For thousands of years we’ve been using our voic To tell tales of our past, justifying our choices Stories passed down through each generation Using our imagination as a means of explanation Trying to make sense of a world that seems senseless Where tyrants prosper at the expense of the defenceless When Jesus stepped into a world full of chaos With three years to teach his disciples the way of the kingdom of heaven - the way we should live Gracious, but serious. Often mysterious He came teaching the truth in short illustrations Nuggets of wisdom full of life’s complications Tales of brothers, of fathers and sons The lost or abandoned and those who belong Everyday situations brought to life by the incarnation Of the one who knows our inner motivations We were made to innately relate to a story To parables pointing to God in His glory
2.
The kingdom of heaven is like the smallest of seeds Its nature to grow when it is planted you’ll see It forms branches wide where birds make their home The kingdom of heaven is like seed that is sown Incomplete pictures, each showing a part Part of the mystery of God’s work of art The kingdom of heaven is like the leaven in bread A pinch in the dough will make it expand as it spreads It can’t be removed. It won’t lose its power The kingdom of heaven is like yeast in the flour Incomplete pictures, each showing a part Part of the mystery of God’s work of art The kingdom of heaven Is like buried treasure that’s found The finder will sell all he owns in order to purchase the land Then he will make that treasure his own The kingdom of heaven is like riches unknown Incomplete pictures, each showing a part Part of the mystery of God’s work of art Each little story brings something new A new way of living. A fragment of truth

Coming Home 01:05
In trepidation, his feet tread the well-worn path Feeling the pain of the day he walked away When his greed and impatience ripped the family apart Having spent all the money on women and wine He finally decided to swallow his pride Not expecting to be treated any better than a servant. He reluctantly returns to the scene of the crime His heart is thumping inside his chest as he raises his head and catches a glimpse in the distance of somebody watching. Somebody waiting. One who’s been constantly hoping and praying. Drenched by their tears for so many years. As he slowly makes his way home.
4.
For years I've been hoping that this day would come watching and waiting for news of my son At break of dawn, not a cloud in the sky On the horizon a sight for sore eyes A sight for sore eyes There in the distance in worn tattered robes I saw a figure was walking alone My heart leapt for joy and I started to cry For there was a fellow that I recognised That I recognised I ran out to meet him, right there on the road Kissed and embraced him, I would not let go My soul was happy as any could be The son that I loved was returning to me Returning to me Quick, bring some clothes and some shoes for his feet Go tell the cook to prepare a great feast My son who was lost oh my boy now is found We will have dancing, let music resound Let music resound We will have dancing, let music resound!
5.
Segregated into tribes split down political and religious lines We stick to our own kind Safe and connected within our own bubbles In chambers that echo back our own ideology Our efforts redouble to protect our theology No room for the ones outside our experience Blaming and shaming, lacking self-aware honesty When the one good outsider is just an anomaly
6.
Why do you call me good? I was just doing what anyone should Walking the Jericho roadI saw a man beaten up and alone I lifted that man, dusted him down Tended his wounds and then took him to town I’m unremarkable, I’m just an ordinary man Why do you call me good? I was just doing what anyone should Found him a safe place to stay Paid for his lodgings and went on my way Later returned, settled the bill Checked on his health and then wished him good will I’m unremarkable, I’m just an ordinary man Why do you call me good?I was just doing what anyone shouldThe question is why was it me Who stopped and was moved by a stranger in need? The two men before simply walked byDidn’t look back and they left him to die I’m unremarkable, I’m just an ordinary man Why do you call me good?I was just doing what anyone shouldFaced with another in need How could I pass him and not intervene? The bard of my tale did so much morePaid off our debt and he settled the score He is remarkable, He is no ordinary man

The Two Sons 00:51
When asked to help by their father Two brothers of differing character Gave divergent responses, contrasting replies Followed by actions that feel misaligned The first refused for he had way better things to do But later, riddled with regret went out and fulfilled his father’s request The second politely said that he would We don’t know if he simply forgot Or if he knew that he wouldn’t, but he never turned up
8.
f I ask you to help and you say that you will but then don’t If you say that you won’t but later decide that you will When are you right, when are you wrong? When are you right, when are you wrong? Actions speak louder than words You can say what you like in this world Empty promises only deceive Give no reason for me to believe That you know actions speak louder than words You can preach up a storm and know Jesus’ words inside out When you walk out that door, your lifestyle is making me doubt Show me, can you walk the way that you talk? Can you walk the way that you talk? Actions speak louder than words You can say what you like in this world Empty promises only deceive Give no reason for me to believe That you know actions speak louder than words

Unimpressed 00:55
With vain repetition and selfish ambition Pronouncing carefully crafted petitions With disdain for the poor and ignoring the needy For prestige and the praises of men they are greedy Looking around to make sure they are seen With voices raised in conceited praise, not of the God they profess to believe in but lifting themselves… Using prayer as a platform to elevate status Proud and conceited, their hearts are ungracious Despising those they think of as less While the God of creation watches on Unimpressed
10.
Two men go to pray One righteous, one sinner Two men go to pray One teacher one traitor One proud and one ashamed One thankful, one afraid How will they be received when two men pray? The Pharisee he prays His heart is deceived The Pharisee he prays His words ill-conceived He feels no inner shame Believes he’s free from blame Betrayed by self-righteousness, the pharisee prays The tax collector prays hiding in shadows The tax collector prays He cries out to heaven “Have mercy, Lord forgive The sin I’m walking in I am not worthy God”, the taxman prays Only one is justified The humble will be lifted high The way of life reversed The first are last, the last are first For we are justified By the faith we have in Jesus Christ Not by deed or words. But in His love we are secure
